Atwood Family Reunion

Event Signage
Several signs were created using images from the university's archives as well as Atwood's own collection in order to orient guests and inform them about the many events happening throughout the building.
Did You Know Tour
One of the activities at the reunion was a guided-tour throughout the building and the construction zone. The designs below are part of a larger set that was developed in order to accompany the tour and provided interesting historical information to guests who each had been a part of the Atwood family during varying decades.  The hardest part of this project was learning enough about Atwood in order to place the images in the proper locations along the tour.

Retirement Gift for Margaret Vos
Because this event also included a retirement celebration for our former Director, the staff at Atwood asked me to create a special memento that would honor her contribution to the "Family."  Margaret Vos is a dynamic and passionate leader who is always looking for another adventure.  The suitcase pictured below seemed to fit Margaret's personality.  The wooden suitcase was hand painted and signed by all the guests who attended the reunion in gold and silver.  The image on the inside was created in Photoshop and printed on adhesive vinyl.
Historic & Renovation Galleries
In April, prior to the reunion, a temporary wall was put up in order to minimize disturbance from the construction taking place.  My supervisor  asked me to come up with some way to make the less of an eyesore, and we decided that tying it into the Atwood Reunion coming up would be the best option.  These three galleries display snapshots of Atwood's history and future.  The historic galleries include photos, newspaper articles, and other historical documents; the renovation gallery features sketches from the construction architect with explanations of the benefits to students. The photos were printed on a color copier and mounted on foam core in order to stand out while on display.
Event and Map Timelines
Because I had been sifting through so much historical media, I decided to take initiative and create various timelines that documented Atwood's history. These designs were well received by guests and are the first (or only surviving) attempts at documenting events in chronological order.
Facebook Teasers
In order to create buzz about the reunion, I created a series of Facebook teaser images that educated about Atwood's history and previewed an aspect of the reunion.  Summer is usually a low traffic time for Atwood's social media; however, many of these posts drove traffic up to levels higher than during parts of the school year.  Designs were created using images from various university archives; the copy that accompanied each image and designs themselves were created by me.
Additional Designs
Many activities and displays were setup around the building during the reunion, because of this there was a need for many additional designs that don't quite fit any one category.  All of these pieces were designed and constructed by me using the materials we had available in-house.  Note: The Atwood Family Reunion graphic in the 2nd image was created by another designer who worked on the initial project. It was used and adapted for the guestbook.
